What are Advanced Techniques? And why are they important?

July 30, 2024

What is an Advanced Technique?

After a year of regular twice-daily practice, we are eligible for an Advanced Technique. Advanced Techniques make Advanced Meditators. They may be an increased layer of sophistication to your original Bija or a change in how you use it. There is a range and progressive evolution to all Bijas.

Why are Advanced Techniques important?

The main advantage of having an Advanced Technique is that it enhances your experience in mediation primarily within Ritam. This added layer of subtlety helps accelerate your development and makes you an expert meditator.

My Personal Experience with Advanced Techniques

As a Vedic Mediation student, I only received my 1st Advanced Technique before joining the 2018 Initiator Training program with Thom. So until now, I did not know the distinction of importance of the 1st vs 2nd Advanced Technique.

I’d like to share a bit about what I learned with Christian Bevacqua in my recent training.

For everyone meditating with their Bija, let this inspire you to transcend where you are, nivar tatvam!

For students who are meditating with the 1st Advanced Technique, the function of this first elaboration of the Bija, is to help stabilize Cosmic Consciousness as your baseline reality. Eyes closed or eyes open. You may already be experiencing this and be wondering what the next step might be.

The 2nd elaboration of the Bija functions slightly differently and helps to stabilize the next stage of your spiritual growth, by heightening your connection to all your senses. As we know, this is an essential aspect of the next most expanded state of consciousness.

We all know our practice pays back exponentially, but staying regular may not be as easy for everyone. I have notoriously resisted regimens and rigid schedules, so I had to find my way to a twice-daily practice and give myself lots of leeway. That is how I gently surrendered to receiving the benefits of our practice.

For some, regularity is their nature and pattern of behavior, so then incorporating this practice is mainly about prioritizing and finessing the daily routine.

Wherever you fall along this spectrum, we accept our nature and work with it. Finding flow and balance is the key and once we stabilize something we continue to refine and challenge ourselves. It is how we stir the Bliss.

If you are interested in learning your 1st or 2nd Advanced Technique with me, please pre-register your interest. You are not obligated to sign up for the course, but this will let me know it is on your horizon so that I can be available for you as your inquiry grows.

With lots of Love,

SJ
