What is Rounding?

As Vedic Meditators, we like to go on retreat once a year or when possible twice a year or even quarterly. When on retreat, we immerse ourselves in a rounding program under supervision and with direction of an Initiator. Once you experience your first Rounding Retreat, the reason for this will become clear, why this is advised.

Rounding is the process of practicing one or more rounds of a specific sequence of asanas, pranayama and meditation with the explicit goal of releasing stress in the physiology. The particulars of this sequence will be taught to you on retreat. In a retreat setting, you will be given a loose structure through a daily schedule, which includes meal times, time for digesting and rest, allowing for a full reset of the nervous system. The experience is a powerful way to enhance maintenance and renewal.

Though the actual steps are actually quite simple, through the process of following a specific sequence, one will experience what we often refer to as “industrial strength stress release.” Your Initiator is there to help guide you and hold space, as well as, provide healthy meals and organize space for deep rest, so that the process of clearing is as smooth as possible. Intermixed will be meeting for shared knowledge and questions. The process requires the willingness of each participant to let go of some of their daily habits, such as coffee, animal protein, phone calls and emails, all cell phone activity. Please ask if you have any questions or concerns.

I am currently surveying interest for a future Rounding Retreat, so let me know if you are interested in participating this fall or winter.
